Game Recap

After jousting with the Knights two other times this year the Jaguars made the third time a charm as Jake Waeltermann knocked the Knights off their high horse with a complete game blow to the armor striking out nine and improving his win total to three as he overwhelmed Farmington all evening and ended the Knights season on a losing note. Cameron Cummings got things started in the first inning by reaching on an error and was later driven in by Blake Horning (2-3, 3 RBI’s, 2 Runs, SB). Waeltermann helped himself by driving in Horning on a single. Stephen Reando reached on a fielder’s choice and was driven in by a Drew Maloney base hit. The Jaguars picked up another run in the second inning as Clayton Busken reached on an error and Cummings drove him in on a fielder’s choice. The JV Jaguars picked up two more runs in the fourth inning as Cummings reached on a base hit and stole second base. Blake Horning walked on a wild pitch and on heads up play took second base, Cummings took home on the throw down to second base and Horning advanced to third on the wild throw. Horning would then score on a wild pitch. Seckman added three runs in the fifth inning as Reando lead off with a walk and Maloney reached on a fielder’s choice. Maloney stole second base and a later scored when Cole Hardy walked with the bases loaded. Clayton Busken was responsible for loading the bases with a perfectly placed bunt down the third base line. Blake Horning dealt the Knights the final blow with a single up the middle plating Busken and Hardy rounding out the scoring for the Jaguars. The Jaguars threatened in the seventh as Grant Strickland lead off the inning with a base hit up the middle and Donavan Summers followed with a hit of his own. Zack Blunt loaded the bases with a walk and Matt Kraus hit a fly ball to center that landed just outside of the infield and Strickland was cut down at the plate on a force out. Summers was then tagged out on an aggressive play ending the threat. Waeltermann then mowed down the Knights in the seventh inning as the Jaguars improved to 18-8 overall. The Jaguars are hoping to put an exclamation point on the season today as they are scheduled to travel to De Smet to take on the Spartans at 4:15 to conclude the JV schedule.
